Today was Kaitlyn’s 6 month check up with her Pediatrician. She weighed in at 14lbs 4oz and 24 inches long! The Dr. said she looks perfect, but we already knew she was. She looks and acts like a typical 4 month old, which is good since her adjusted age is 4 months (she will be looked upon as her adjusted age for the first year). She is ahead developmentally, which is exciting. She is still taking iron for her hemoglobin, but the Dr. said she only needs it for one more month. We can also take her off of the Preemie formula and switch to regular formula. We’ve been struggling a little with the rice cereal, Kaitlyn isn’t a big fan. The Dr. said we can start Kaitlyn on stage 1 jar foods and try mixing it with the rice cereal or oatmeal. We’re excited to try this! Kaitlyn also had an eye test, and passed with flying colors. She won’t need another one until she is 2 years old. So good news, except that she had to have 3 shots and some blood taken. Papito said she did not take the shots well, not that any baby really does, but this time was the hardest. Kaitlyn usually cries after the first one is stuck in her leg, but this time she screamed and had real tears. Poor baby! So aside from the shots, Kaitlyn had a wonderful check up!

Yesterday we went to the MUSC NNICU Reunion. MUSC puts on this reunion every other year, and obviously this was Kaitlyn’s first. MUSC put on a great event. There were pony rides, a train, jump castles, petting zoo, face painting, and so much more. We were very lucky and ran into two of Kailtyn’s Doctors, Dr. Purohit and Dr. Wagner, and also a couple of her nurses. We had a great time and we’re looking forward to the 2010 Reunion when Kaitlyn will really be able to enjoy all of the activities! Enjoy the pictures below, wow what a difference!

Friday was Kaitlyn’s Half Birthday. She is now 6 months old, my how time flies! Friday was also her Great Nana’s Birthday. We all got together and had some of Papito’s Baked Ziti, yum! Then Kaitlyn helped Nana blow out her candles and open her presents. Happy Birthday Nana & Half Birthday Kaitlyn!

So Kaitlyn is in a photo contest using the picture below. We need all of her fans to vote! Unfortunately, voting can be a pain in the rear. But I have some instructions, so hopefully it will make it a bit easier for you.

  1. Go to the Great American Photo Contest website
  2. Fill out the information (everything appears to be required).
  3. Make sure you uncheck the boxes on that page.
  4. Hit submit
  5. DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER
I know there are other forms to fill, but you don’t have to mess with them.
  6. Check your email account for a message from Great American Photo. If you don’t see it immediately, be sure to check your spam folder.
  7. Click the link in the email.
  8. See the beautiful picture of a beautiful baby, and click VOTE!
  9. DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER (unless you really want all that crap they are trying to push)
  10. You are done, and we thank you.

Please note that even by doing this little, you are still going to start getting some spam in your inbox.  Seems pretty easy to either filter (Gmail catches it automatically for me) or just unsubscribe.

And again, don’t feel like you have to.  We all already know she is the prettiest baby out there!

Kaitlyn’s Baptism will be Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 1:00pm at The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. We would love for all of our family and friends to join us in celebrating this joyous occasion. Invitations will be sent out in the next couple of weeks.
